Nuu-Muu Ruu-Muu with Pocket Running Dress
Field Test: This exercise dress is attractive enough to wear out, yet technical enough to run, SUP, yoga, or hike in. Each dress is made in the USA of wicking, quick-drying fabric in a variety of colorful prints. The two back pockets discreetly hold my iPod and keys, as well as my I.D. and cash. Designed to cover your sports bra, the fit flatters all body types and leaves the wearer feeling good whilst working out.
Why It’s Timeless: People stop me on both the trail and around town to ask where I got it.
Mountain Khaki’s Contour Dress
Field Test: This cotton and polyester blend dress was the most comfortable of the three reviewed here, mostly because it’s soft on the skin and comes with a built-in bra. That being said, the cotton isn’t ideal for high-intensity exercise. Rather, I stash it in my pack when I want something easy to change into post-hike. Dress it up or down depending on whether you’re heading to the farmer’s market or going out for the night in Jackson Hole.
Why It’s Timeless: Fair trade certified, cute, and easy to wear.
Outdoor Research Bryn Travel Dress
Field Test: The Bryn can take my haphazard packing and emerge from my suitcase wrinkle-free. Made from a combination of nylon, polyester, and spandex, it packs small and is both wicking and breathable. I’ve worn it hiking in Oregon, out to dinner in Washington D.C., and for three days straight in Telluride, Colorado. The fit flatters most body types, and the capped sleeves save you from freezing whenever you enter any sort of AC-zone.
Why It’s Timeless: When it comes to deciding what to pack, this dress is the answer.
