On June 16, Sydney was admitted to the hospital for observation after experiencing persistent swelling and unusual weight gain. By late that night, the doctors in Summit didn’t feel like it was safe for her to remain in the high country any longer and sent her to Denver with a diagnosis of preeclampsia. After a day and a half of observation and fairly stable labs tests, on Monday afternoon her liver counts tripled and it was no longer safe to continue the pregnancy- either for Sydney or for the baby. At 4:37p, Nick and Sydney’s baby girl, Quinn Addison joined the world at only 24 weeks 4 days, 1 pound 3 ounces, and 11 inches long. Life for Quinn was pretty tenuous at first. She’s been through infections, multiple iv lines, blood transfusions, antibiotics, and more, but this girl is proving to be a fighter.
