This is the lightest-weight waterproof shoe in our roundup, and for that, we sing its praises. Weather shielding comes via a single-layer laminate eVent upper that manages to allow air and moisture out, but not in. The shoe has an interesting fit and feel. Its minimal offset (3mm from heel to toe, as opposed to a more traditional 8-12mm), and super wide toe box give runners a natural experience, like running barefoot. Some liked it; others didn’t, claiming too much side-to-side foot motion, which made them feel unstable on rocky terrain. But all agreed that the flexible rock plate was protective without being cumbersome. Swami gripe: Not the best traction. Swami like: Ample cushioning for hard-packed trails. 9.7 oz. (men’s), 8.1 oz. (women’s)
