With an outsole made of the same rubber and tread found on Michelin mountain bike tires, these sleek, grippy shoes excelled on off-camber terrain, rocky scrambles, and hard-packed dirt climbing. The traction inspired confidence. Testers called them “responsive, smooth, and cushioning.” We found them adequately supportive for carrying a daypack full of climbing equipment, and they breathe while repelling fine sand. Swami gripe: Lacing system proved complicated and hard to adjust. Swami like: Ample cushioning and flexibility for short paved sections. 10 oz. (men’s), 9.5 oz. (women’s)
