The Town to Trail winner.
Pearl’s E:Motion shoes offer a pronounced (subtly rockered) midsole for a smooth stride and unprecedented efficiency—it takes no effort to roll through the strike. Our testers praised the design and the cushy, rockered EVA foam. The set-up—aided by a 4mm heel-to-toe drop—allows for speedy low-impact transitions. They feel fast, while still offering lots of protection. A forefoot rock plate and a reinforced midfoot move seamlessly from pavement to medium trail. Tester’s take: “Fluid and powerful. Runs like a greyhound.” Swami gripe: Poor traction in wet conditions. Swami like: Everything else. The Trail M2 earned the most tester praise. 10 oz (men’s size nine); $125
