There's a reason they call it Squallywood. Squaw Valley has been in ski films since Scot Schmidt popularized "extreme" skiing in the '80s. Shane McConkey cut his teeth here. Hell, Hot Dog... The Movie was filmed at Squaw. Robb Gaffney—who's appeared in more than 10 ski movies—and his Squallywood Clinic will give you the full Squaw experience. Sign on for this inbounds tour that involves hiking and generally working like a pro skier on a photo shoot, and you'll get early lift access to Squaw's best inbounds terrain. On the hill, you'll choose your line, then communicate with the photographer and videographer so they can grab the best images and footage. Expect to ski fairly steep, cliffy terrain like Mainline Pocket and Granite Chief. Around midday, the Squallywood crew heads back to their editing suites. By evening, your edited ski flicks gets "premiered" at the bar. You'll walk away with a DVD of your day and images from the on-staff professional photographer. "They get to experience what the photo and film shoot is like," Robb Gaffney says. "There's been times where we've had Warren Miller on one side of us filming and Matchstick on the other side." You don't have to ski like a pro to do the clinic either. "As long as you're an advanced or above, we can work with it," says Gaffney.
