One of the purest and most authentic ski towns in the West, Crested Butte has long been hailed for its inbounds extreme terrain, cold powder, and short lines. This year you have to add "family friendly" to that list. A brand new year-round zipline tour complements recent additions including an ice rink and base-area adventure park, while the renovated Paradise Warming House offers a fresh take on mid-mountain dining. And the new management continues to invest in state- of-the art snowmaking and grooming (they're East Coasters, they get it). Don't forget the steep skiing though. "I've skied all over the world and I love it here," says local pro Max Mancini. "There's a very extreme feeling up here, but it's got something for everyone."
