Yet another town to be dubbed the next Moab, at first the accolades didn't match up—the riding here was a bit uniform and limited and the town was still a bit too dark for a night out. But now the network within the Fruita and Grand Junction area lives up to the hype. Three trail systems form disparate, but worthy hubs. The Kokopelli Trails for red rock. Serpentine and tacky singletrack with lots of roller-coaster drops and an atypical big climb can be had at the Book Cliffs zone. And the newer Rabbit Valley trails offer a range of cross-country fare.
