Tester reports for the Caldorado ranged from “felt sturdy and snug,” to “fit was just plain off.” Lovers included those who tend to pronate. Regardless, the Montrail’s traction shined, with 5mm deep, spaced-out lugs keeping testers upright and athletic on hardscrabble trail, mud, and snow. A knock: On off-camber trails, nearly everyone noticed their feet sliding around within the shoe. Swami gripe: The heel collar dug into some testers’ Achilles and/or ankles. Swami like: It’s a looker. 11 oz. (men’s), 9.1 oz. (women’s)
