Overview: Just 36 miles from Salt Lake’s Airport, Deer Valley is located in the historic mining town of Park City. With a base elevation of 7,000 feet, the snow is light, dry, and deep. On and off the hill, expect a rarified experience complete with curbside ski valets, award winning grooming, and almost nonexistent lift lines thanks to a combination of 21 lifts and a resort mandated daily limit on skiers.
What’s New: Skiers accessing Bald Eagle Mountain from the Silver Lake Village will find ride time cut in half thanks to a new high-speed quad. The Homestake Express increases uphill capacity by 400 skiers per hour.
Local’s Take: Longtime Deer Valley skier Donna Allen says to take advantage of the regularly scheduled tours that come with your lift ticket. Guides break groups into appropriate ability levels and take skiers to the best powder stashes and groomers on the mountain. On really deep powder days, says Allen, “The Lady Morgan Chair offers the biggest bang for your buck—the most vertical in the shortest amount of time.” deervalley.com —S.P. | photo Ross Downard
