Altra Olympus 2.0

Sometimes you have to slap pavement to get to the trailhead.

Each Altra shoe is built on a zero-drop platform, which allows your heel and forefoot to sit on an even plane (conversely, the heel cushioning of “traditional” shoes is anywhere from 4mm to 12mm higher than the forefoot). The goal of even footing is a more natural-feeling stride. While it takes time to transition to zero-drop shoes, the major cushioning of the Olympus 2.0 feels pillowy and forgiving, easing us into the change. And despite all that cushioning in the Altra Olympus 2.0s, they’re remarkably light and responsive. A toothy Vibram Megagrip outsole proved claw-like. Swami gripe: Had to triple-knot laces. Swami like: Wide toebox lets piggies spread. 11 oz. (men’s), 9 oz. (women’s)
