Here’s a protective shoe in a lightweight package. The somewhat stiff upper—sheltering feet from branches and rocks—takes some breaking in. But by the third run, testers claimed the shoe softened up and conformed to their feet. Underfoot, Continental rubber (yes, like your bike tires) grips rock—wet or dry. It can feel (and sound) like you’re wearing cleats when running on pavement or hard-packed dirt. But as one tester raved, the Agravic “lets you bounce off rocks and jump over roots while protecting your ankles.” Swami gripe: Not the most breathable. Swami like: Substantial toe bumper adds to protection. 11 oz. (men’s), 9.4 oz. (women’s)
